Journal of Smart Agriculture and Environmental Technology (JOSAET)
The Journal of Smart Agriculture and Environmental Technology (JOSAET) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript. Authorship carries both credit and responsibility. All authors are expected to uphold the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics.
This policy is based on the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Authorship Criteria
JOSAET recognizes as authors only those individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work. Each author should meet all of the following criteria:
- Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
- Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
- Approved the final version of the manuscript before submission;
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Individuals who do not meet all of these criteria should not be listed as authors.
2. Acknowledgements
Individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately. Examples include technical assistance, language editing, administrative support, or financial assistance.
Acknowledged individuals must give their permission before their names are included.
3. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for:
- ensuring that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria;
- obtaining approval from all co-authors before submission;
- managing all communication with the Editorial Office throughout the review and publication process;
- ensuring the accuracy of author information, affiliations, and declarations.
4. Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author and include:
- the reason for the requested change; and
- written agreement from all authors, including those being added or removed.
Changes after acceptance will be considered only under exceptional circumstances and require approval by the Editor-in-Chief.
No changes in authorship will normally be permitted after publication unless necessary to correct the scholarly record.
5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
JOSAET does not accept unethical authorship practices, including:
- Gift (Honorary) Authorship – listing individuals who did not make substantial scholarly contributions.
- Ghost Authorship – omitting individuals who made substantial scholarly contributions.
- Guest Authorship – including well-known individuals solely to increase the likelihood of publication.
Any suspected authorship misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics Policy.
6. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs), cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work.
Authors who use AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation must comply with the journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy and disclose such use appropriately.
7. Editorial Assessment
The Editorial Office may request additional information regarding authorship contributions at any stage of the editorial process.
Where authorship disputes arise, JOSAET may suspend editorial processing until the matter has been resolved by the authors or their institutions.
8. Policy Review
JOSAET periodically reviews this policy to ensure consistency with international publication ethics standards and best editorial practices.
